“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”
We cannot allow our value to be determined by compliments, clothes, or even money. We cannot let a man or women, family or friends, work and hobbies take more precedence in our hearts than the Lord! When anything of this world becomes an idol, the enemy will distract us from the work we are to do. Intimacy with the Lord and pleasing Him should be my first priority. Even when it’s hard and even when it hurts.
When our love goes into all these things that pass away, and when we only feel loved by these things that pass away then we have limited ourselves and hinder the true blessings that God has in store for our purpose in this world.
1 Peter 3:3-4
“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”
It is not implied that I cannot wear gold, or that I cannot have a nice hairdo, but this word does teach me that my focus should be on my inner beauty. Don’t you know people that can dress up! I mean beautiful on the outside, but just nasty, mean and ugly when you get to know them?
Proverbs 31:30 NIV
“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
